On September 7, 2018, she announced that she would be releasing new music. On September 12, 2018, she premiered a new song Mariners Apartment Complex. She would also release Venice Bitch. The album was officially announced on September 18, 2018, on Beats 1 Radio during an interview with Zane Lowe.
The video for both Mariners and Venice were released on September 18, 2018. The songs were written and produced by Jack Antonoff and Lana.
On January 9, 2019 “Hope Is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me to Have – but I Have It” was released as the third single. The fourth single, a cover of Sublime’s O”Doin’ Time” was released on May 17, 2019. On August 22, 2019 the singles “Fuck It, I Love You” and “The Greatest” dropped in the form of a double video.
